Warehouse Supervisor

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for first-line management and the overall performance of the outbound operational process. They will also plan, organize, and monitor the receiving, storage, and distribution of all items received to ensure a smooth and consistent operation. This position is responsible for preparing and planning strategies to meet the department’s daily, weekly, and monthly goals, and is responsible for meeting KPIs for the processes under their supervision. Responsibilities also include coaching and managing associates to high-performance standards and recognizing individual and team success.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Outbound operational responsibilities include supervising the daily work and safety of Warehouse Associates engaged in order selection, product replenishment, and shipment of products
Monitors the unloading of all finished products into the receiving department; ensures materials are staged for counting and inspection; ensures receiving reports accurately report material received
Monitors and measures receiving and warehouse performance for accuracy of locator, receiving reporting, movement, and storage of material, and transfers to service parts
Conducts audits daily ensuring all required documentation is accurately completed and that material is handled and stored correctly with a minimum potential for loss. Resolves discrepancies with accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports. Monitors the flow of paperwork from receiving to inventory control for timely data entry. Oversees the movement of finished products from receiving to the warehouse in an efficient, effective, and safe manner
Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors and evaluates the performance of warehouse associates; ensures their ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials to and from storage configurations; counsels, records, and disciplines as necessary
Give consistent and thorough feedback to Warehouse Associates, conduct timely Performance Appraisals, and deliver disciplinary action if necessary
Understand and effectively communicate company policies to ensure compliance and a consistent administration
Maintains a personnel structure and staffing level to accomplish the warehouse’s inbound and outbound missions in an effective and efficient manner. Interviews and recommends applicants for hire as warehouse and receiving associates
Read, understand, and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports; use these reports to evaluate the department’s performance
Develop and execute daily and weekly action plans to meet department and distribution center performance expectations
Represent the Warehouse/GDIT in a professional manner, promoting GDIT policies and programs and approaching challenges in a positive manner. Participates in special projects as required
Understand all safety procedures; ensure safe work practices are followed and maintain a safe work environment

Position Requirements:

Education:
Required: High School Diploma. College Degree preferred
Experience:
Required: 3 to 5 years of work-related experience in a warehouse environment is required

Experience and working knowledge of warehouse systems, processes, and productivity standards (WMS, LMS, SPC – statistical process control – and related ability to recognize, articulate, and address variances in processes)

Experience with supervising in an automated material handling environment is preferred

Specialized Training or Technical Knowledge Licenses, Certifications Needed:
Knowledge of warehouse management systems – SAP

Forklift certification preferred

Functional Knowledge:

Ability to work cross-functionally and drive initiatives that span multiple departments

Highly developed time management skills with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities with a high degree of initiative required

Superior communication (spoken and written) skills

Process improvement mentality that identifies areas for more efficient and effective approaches to contracting

Company / Industry-Related Knowledge:
Pharmaceuticals experience a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift, pull, push up to 75lbs
